1/20/08 Looks like Jerrys got it dialed in as he just comes out of a gybe.

1/20/08 Ingrids showing better judgement than the rest of us. Dang its cold, the rum froze up!

1/22/08 James is on the left, he was going back and forth across the river all day like a metronome.
We have had big wind since Sunday, it was a cold wind out of the north and Tuesday it started clocking around to the east and warming some. I was only able to get out on Sunday but felt overpowered on a 4.5, saw a lot of people on the water testing there skills.

1/19/ Saturday turned out to be a light wind day. Rigged an 8.5 and spent an hour hunting gusts.

Wednesday the wife and I headed up to New Smyrna Beach for a few days vacation. We left at 9:00 and I'm driving up the interstate looking at the sunny skies and the wind blowing the trees. 10:30 I'm at this little park off US 1 in Sebastion rigging a 7.0. I sailed the river and made it 2/3 of the way to Sebastion Inlet State Park. I had a pretty good time on the water. This morning I sailed Ponce Inlet. The tide was coming in, much to my relief and it was blowing 17 and gusting to 21. Rigged a 7.0 and by the time I got out the wind had faded back some. I was catching a fair amount of gusts but it involved a lot of gybing and the runs weren't that long. Tomorrow is forecasted 5 - 10.

Wow, I haven't been on the water since 1/5..... I'm feeling listless. This past Thursday I was at the causeway at 5:00 pm and the wind had faded. There were several people out on formula boards flying these huge sails and all I could do was watch! I understand Friday was good, but I had to work. Saturday the wind took a while to build and by that time I had made plans to eat mexican food in Tequesta. Seems like everytime I eat mexican food the wind comes up, whats up with that? (see post 10/26/07) We stopped by the causeway late in the day and found out Dino was giving rides on his formula board. I wonder if he charges extra if he gets up on plane? Also, Art had a run in with a manatee and the manatee won. Today at 1:00 pm the wind line said 15 with gusts to 20. I was there at 1:30 and there wasn't a 20mph gust in sight. Stayed there 3 1/2 hours and finally gave up. Tomorrow looks to be a good day. NOAA says NW 15 - 20 and accuweather forecasts 65 degrees at lunch.

Yesterday was a bleak day on the water. It was overcast with an occasional misting rain at 51 degrees. Wind was initally WNW and then shifting ENE, speed varying anywhere between 14-43 mph. I saw Charles, Dino and Brandon on the water, will post some photos soon.

Wednesday, January 2, 2008

I saw a lot of people on the water braving the 50 degrees and 18 - 23 mph wind. Wind was a little gusty, but the sun was out and it was nice to be on smaller gear.

Charles is on the move!

1/2/08 Who needs a full wet suit, its 55 degrees out. That's like springtime in Canada!

The start of the New Year looks to be exciting for the windsurfing community on the Treasure Coast if you don't mind some cool (well actually cold weather). Wednesday will be bright and sunny, the winds are supposed to be NW at 26 knts dropping some throughout the day to 24. Morning temps of 50 and reaching a toasty (well actually a cold) 55. Thursday will start partly sunny and become partly cloudy with a chance of rain, 50 in the morning and 60 in the afternoon. Winds start NNW and clock around to NNE at 15 - 20 kts all day. Friday shows E at 15 - 20 kts. Forecast info from NOAA, Accuweather and Sailflow.
NEWS FLASH: I'm not going to mention any names but DINO turned 41 on New Years eve!
