Saturday afternoon turned out to be a good day on the water. I was checking the wind line all morning and it seemed to be up and down which is typical for any west wind. Then at 1:00pm it was hitting 15 – 20 WSW and that sounded promising. So I grabbed the 155L formula board and headed for the causeway. When I arrived at the east island everyone was sailing on the south side but the north side looked better. I rigged an 8.5 which looked right for the south side and headed out. Everything felt balanced until I was a couple hundred yards out and then I was over powered. I flattened out the sail and it was manageable. I was having a great time, followed Art up into the shallows at Sail Fish Point and sailed with Dave M. some. Then headed for the causeway and crossed over to the north side. A couple hundred yards and the wind faded some and then headed back. The wind would seem to shift and was up and down, I guess I picked the right setup. Tried to sail the channel a couple times but the wind would fade as I headed south. As it got later in the afternoon the water got flatter and big gust would still come through, I was out with James till about 5:30. I downloaded my track into google earth and noticed they had upgraded the satellite photo. This track shows the new causeway but the water isn’t as clear on the north side as it is on my track from 2/17

Sunday was a great day on the water. Started at 10:30 on a 155L formula with an 8.5 sail. Was out at the House of Refuge for about an hour, water was fairly flat and was working on gybing this board. I had plenty of speed and it was fun, but I forgot the gps. Around 12:30 it rained and the wind dropped for a short period and then came up and filled in more. I rigged a 7.0 on a 118L Techno and was back out at the House of Refuge. I like the run from the House of Refuge past the spoil island and into the channel. A lot of people at the causeway enjoying the sun and wind.
